Roy Spencer has been working as a management consultant since 1977, leading major strategic change projects designed to improve company performance. Change and change management has been a constant thread running through the whole of his career and his strength lies in his ability to move from shop floor to boardroom whilst at the same time covering the systems, human resource and organizational development issues in a wide range of cultural environments.

A graduate in metallurgy, he worked in various development and troubleshooting capacities changing and improving products and processes in the ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals industries before joining the UK arm of a US performance improvement consultancy. Working in the UK, Holland, Germany and Portugal in a wide range of manufacturing and distribution industries, Roy designed and installed management control systems and provided training and one-to-one coaching to managers.

In 1987 he joined a niche consultancy to work on the restructuring of the British nuclear fuels industry and the privatisation of utilities. Increasingly involved in organisational development, he worked with senior management teams to develop the skills necessary for private sector operation.

In 1992 he was awarded an MBA, his dissertation focusing on the formation of teams to deal with unstructured business problems.

Subsequently, Roy has worked on radical organizational change and the development requirements of joint client/consultant teams in providing holistic solutions and has delivered training in consulting skills as far away as India. He has coached senior executives on the integration of cross border businesses and written papers on successful companies and how they stay ahead.

Roy works extensively on consulting projects in Russia, working with both national and multinational companies on management systems, culture change and the development of management skills, running projects as far apart as St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan.

His interests outside of work are classical music, opera and ballet, pursuits that are easily followed in Russia. His other interest would be gardening if he had enough time to pick up a spade when he was at home.
